Warhammer is my favourite wargame, one that I've had hundreds of games of, and as such reckon to be a very experienced player.
I've played with, and against every single army out there and have met with various levels of sucess.
My all time favourite armies are Skaven and Wood Elves, of which I have considerable armiys of both.
One of my biggest gripes is the lack of magic missile weapons in the game.
Wood Elves being the most obvious case, one of the most magically adept races of the warhammer world and also the most proficient archers have only the Hail of Doom Arrow and Bow of Loren (both of which are great characterful weapons).
With this in mind I have decided to create a few more magic items to use in your games.
One thing to bear in mind is that these rules are unofficial and should only be used with your opponents permission.
So try them out and "Give it Death"!
These arrows were created by skilled fletchers and then mighty enchantments were placed on them by potent sorcerors.
Unless otherwise stated they have the same range, strength and saving throw modifier as standard arrows fired from a normal bow allowed in the races army list and are bought in addition to the bow.
For example a dark elf champion must buy a repeating crossbow then buy the enchanted bolts/arrows to shoot.
These items count towards the magic item allowance in the army lists and properties of magic arrows and bows are not cumulative.
These are arrows that a simple spell has been cast on them. A faint glow emits from the arrowhead and these arrows can effect etherial and daemonic creatures in the same way as magic weapons. 10 points.
These shafts have normal statistics for their type with an additional -1 saving throw modifier. 15 points.
These arrows were first used by orcs and goblins who discovered wood elves dislike of burning forests. Since then a few other nations have copied the design, much to the disgust of the inhabitants of Loren. Each arrow has a strength of 4 and a -1 saving throw modifier. On impact the arrow bursts into flames and cause double damage to flammable targets. Due to their nature both High Elves and Wood Elves find these weapons abhorrent and will never use them. They can also be used to destroy buildings.20 points.
A Dark Elf invention, these bolts are dipped in the blood of a giant scorpion, then tempered with venom from its sting.
These shafts have a strength of 4 and a -1 saving throw modifier.
When a unit takes a casualty from these arrows the unfortunate victim lets out a terrible scream of unutterable agony!
The unit must then make an immediate panic test.
Characters receiving wounds from these arrows can test against their leadership to try to hold the scream in.

Dark Elves Only
Orc and Goblin shamen have long used Trollblood in their spellcasting, but recently they have found out that with the right preparation can make potent arrows. Dark spells are cast over a vat of Trollblood, then various fungi from deep underground are added to the brew. Finally a spell of enfeeblement is cast into the vat and the arrowheads added. The whole vat is boiled until all that is left are the arrowheads, each one with a potent effect. These arrows have a strength of 4 with a -1 saving throw modifier. Any model wounded but not killed outright becomes subject to stupidity for their following turn. 25 points. Orcs and Goblins Only
A variation on the Hail of Doom Arrow, these missiles are slightly less potent but still very deadly. Once in flight these arrows divide causing D3 hits. They have a strngth of 4 and -1 saving throw modifier. Roll seperately to hit for each arrow. 25 points.
These arrows are thought to be developed by the nomads of Araby in an attempt to defeat the undead hordes. Powerful spells of banishment are placed upon the arrows and are then washed in blessed water. They are powerful when used against the undead. When used against undead they have a strength of 5, a -2 saving throw modifier and causes D3 wounds. Against the living they have a strength of 3 and -1 saving throw modifier. 40 points.
Spells of destruction are cast on these very potent arrows. There is a fierce orange glow from each arrowhead. They have a strength of 5 and a -2 saving throw modifier. Each hit causes D3 wounds. 40 points.

This particularly nasty item was invented by the dark elves but other races have copied it.
The arrowhead is dipped in the blood of a sacrificial victim, and their last breath is used to dry it.
A curious effect of this is that the arrow screams in flight.
It has a range of 36", strength of 4 and a -1 saving throw modifier.
Any model hit but not killed must make a leadership test on 3D6, discarding the lowest number.
If this test is failed then the victim's soul is torn from their body and they are killed instantly.
This will even work on undead.

Dark Elves, Orcs and Goblins Only.

First created in Brettonia when undead roamed the land, many races have copied the principal.
Seven spells of blessing are cast on the arrow then it is washed in holy water.
Another seven spells of banishment are cast on it until the arrow glows with a holy light.
It has a range of 36", strength 4 and a -1 saving throw modifier against the living.
This arrow will cause D3 automatic wounds on any daemon, undead or elemental model that it strikes with no saving throw allowed.

This arrow is made almost entirely out of obsidian, which is one of the most potent anti-magical materials in the warhammer world.
The arrow has a range of 36", a strength of 4 and a -1 saving throw modifier.
This arrow will cause D3 automatic wounds on any spellcaster that it strikes with no saving throw possible.

Rather than a simple arrow dipped into a vial of manbane, this is a far more dangerous item.
The arrowhead itself is created to actually secrete a magical (and therefore exteremely deadly) poison.
The arrow has a range of 36", a strength of 4 and a -1 saving throw modifier.
Any living creature struck by the arrow will be wounded on the D6 roll of 2+ regardless of their toughness.
In addition the arrow causes D6 wounds.

These arrows were devised by high elves battling heavily armoured dwarfs during the war of the beard.
They have a range of 36" and a strength of 4.
This arrow will automatically penetrate non-magically armour desroying it instantly.
Magical armour saves with a -1 saving throw modifier, if it fails the armour is rendered useless for the rest of the game.

Skaven are one of the most ingenious creators of the most dangerous weapons in the warhammer world.
One such item is the Warp Rifle.
It looks similar to an ordinary skaven handgun but for its strange greenish radiance.
It has a chamber filled with warpstone shot, a highly dangerous and volitile type of ammunition, which causes extreme pain and mutation followed by agonising death.
The Warp Rifle has a range of 36" a strength of 4 and a -2 saving throw modifier.
Once a unit or model takes a wound from the rifle roll a D6 to determine what (if anything) happens to the unfortunate victim.
1-3 Model takes 1 wound as normal.
4-5 Model takes 1 wound and starts to mutate in alarming ways.
The unit must make an immediate panic test.
6 The target is killed but in its agonising death throes strikes out at its comrades, the model makes D6 hits at it own strength on the unit he/she is in.
